Turkey in a Bag

So I had to re-post this recipe with Thanksgiving next week. I love this recipe.  The turkey is so moist and tender it just falls apart.  No carving required.  Leftover are great for sandwiches.   Or us it for  chicken (turkey)  pot pie.

Turkey in a Bag
From my sister-in-law Monica

Turkey
Salt & Pepper - to taste
Sage - 4 small handfuls
Brown Grocery Bag
Aluminum Foil
Large Roasting Pan

Preheat oven to 450.

Oil the inside and outside of your brown grocery bag.  Rinse turkey inside and out.   Rub spices all over the turkey.   Put turkey inside the brown bag, breast side down (very important).  Staple shut.  Cover with aluminum foil.

Then bake at 450 according to size.  If turkey weighs between 10-12 pounds bake for 30 minutes.  If turkey weighs more than 12 pounds bake for 45 minutes.

Turn oven down to 225 degrees.  If turkey weighs between 10-12 pounds bake for 8-10 hours.  If turkey is over 12 pounds bake for 12 hours.
