Tips

Online Coupons- They are a help and a hindrance.  Here are some pointers I want to make about them.
  • Don't waste the ink.  I almost always will only print an online coupon that is shown with an active sale item.  Rarely  will I print and save online coupons. If  I print a coupon for an item that is not on sale yet, these are my guidelines - It has to be a high value coupon and it has to be something we use frequently and a lot of.  There was a brief period that I surfed coupons.com and I printed any coupons I thought I might need.  I was using a lot of paper and a lot of ink.  Then I found myself throwing half the coupons away because they had expired or my newspaper coupons had a higher value.
Stack your Coupon Packets- Are you succeeding at dating and filing your coupons immediately?  Then read on.
  • I have eight papers therefore I have eight coupon packets.  When I need a coupon I don't want to cut eight coupons.  I want to have to only cut my coupon once.
  • So I take all my coupon packets and combine them to make one big coupon packet. Make sense?  I only recommend adding this step if you are being successful at the "basic" coupon filing system.
Alphabetical Coupon List
  • GrocerySmarts keeps a running alphabetical list of all the coupons in your coupon packets that haven't expired.  That way if you need an item not listed on sale you can refer to this list to see if you have a coupon to go with it.  Just click here to see the list.
