Costco, coupons, what should you do?

That is a great question and you are the only one who can answer that. For me I mostly clip coupons and supplement with good buys at Costco. My sister hates couponing and loves to shop at Costco. Either way I suggest you try to shop the grocery sales. If you buy everything at regular price you will spend way too much.

I like to shop at several stores. If you have a favorite grocery store you shop at most often become familiar with that store. Talk to the manager to find out what day of the week they do mark downs, have in-store specials, etc. Most grocery stores will mark down meat that is a day old and if you become familiar with your favorite store you can get some good deals. You could save much more if you learn what day of the week it is best to shop your store.

Costco can be a great deal if you use it wisely. If you haven't planned to buy three months supply of something then don't put yourself in the hole to get it. Steve and I had to keep working on our budget until we had a "Costco" budget. Now I will add little by little.

As a member you receive monthly coupons. If you use these coupons on items you need it will work to your advantage. I have to remind myself not to get sucked into buying things we don't normally want or use. Also if you don't receive the coupons call Costco and they can put you on the mailing list.

Another bonus to Costco purchases is quality. Costco has high-quality products. I am a frugal shopper, however you can't skimp on fish. If you buy cheap fish it will taste like cheap fish. So you have to decide what items you can live with the cheaper brand and what you expect to use only certain brands.
